We're a historic coaching inn, with the River Ribble flowing on one side and the ancient remains of Sawley Abbey on the other. A Bit of Our History
We’ve been a fixture here for over 300 years, back when we used to be a coaching inn. Travellers would stop here to rest and refuel, and in some ways, not much has changed. The Spread Eagle has always been a place to come in, relax, and enjoy some good food and drink. What sets us apart is that we’re surrounded by such incredible history—Sawley Abbey’s ruins are just a stone’s throw away.

We’ve recently renovated our bedrooms to give them a fresh, modern feel while keeping the character of the place intact. Each room is designed with comfort in mind, making it the perfect spot to unwind. Imagine waking up to views of the River Ribble or Pendle Hill, with the soothing sounds of the river flowing just outside your window, a perfect start to your morning.
And if you’re bringing your four legged friend, you’ll be pleased to know we’re dog friendly. We love welcoming pups as much as people, so don’t hesitate to bring them along for the stay. We even have a dog menu so no one's left hungry.
